Tell us a little about yourself: Age? Occupation? Married/Single? Kids?

I will be 59 in 2 weeks which means next year I get to compete in the Open in the 60+ category! I am a stay at home mom to a soon to be 15 year old son and I’ve been married for 23 years to 6 am WOD fixture Mickey.

 What is your athletic background?

Hobbies?

I have never been athletic. I was always the last one picked for any kind of sports in school. But I was a dancer from the age of 5. In about 8th grade I discovered ice skating and competed for years. In my 20s I had the opportunity to audition for Ice Capades and made it into one of their 3 companies. For 4 years I travelled around the US and Canada getting a paycheck for something I absolutely loved doing. After 4 years with Ice Capades I was offered a job in a small ice show in Atami, Japan for 6 months. Once I hung up my skates I was back and forth with dance, primarily ballet. About 6 years ago I discovered Crossfit and have never looked back.

My hobbies are scrapbooking, quilting, organizing and all types of crafts.

If you could program a WOD for CFM, what would it be? 


15-12-9-6-3 of HSPU strict, hang clean (95/65), box jumps (24/20), 20 D/U after each set

What are your favorite meals or "Cheat" foods?

Hagen Daas Chocolate Chocolate chip ice cream—the whole pint!

What song do you hope comes on mid-WOD?

“Lived” by One Republic

 Favorite & least favorite CrossFit movements? Why?

I love hand stand push ups. Least favorite is rowing and wallballs.

 What is your most recent PR? What is your next goal?

I struggle with overhead squats. It took me forever to get past 25#. I just got 55# which was a 10#  PR. And I finally did a WOD with my RX weight wallball. Long term, I want to get bar muscle ups. I’ve been working on jumping bar muscle ups to get the movement of pushing up on the bar and I’ve gotten a few using bands. I want to get RX push ups and get off my knees! And I want to string my toes 2 bar together.

 What keeps you coming back to CFM to achieve your goals?

When I started out at Crossfit I could barely deadlift 25#. I was using the hyperlight bar and 5# plates for anything overhead. I joined Crossfit to strengthen my upper body and for better stamina. I had been doing Crossfit for 2 years when I had the opportunity to become a member of a professional modern dance company through the Temecula Theater. I was able to keep up with the 17 year olds in the company and I know that would have never happened without Crossfit. Before Crossfit, I could never have imagined what I would be capable of.

Any advice to those who are just starting out?

During the Open there was a video circulating for 17.1 with a young girl doing the burpees and box jump overs with only one leg. Realize that the only limits we have are the ones we put on ourselves. Chuck the limits, listen to your body, and always try to do better today than you did yesterday.
